Why Is Nanocrystalline The Best Core For Electromagnet?

Nanocrystalline soft magnetic materials have become widely used in power electronic design in recent years. In addition to excellent performance, the price and the diversity of materials applications have greatly replaced traditional ferrite materials.

Advantages

So far, Fe based nanocrystalline can be widely used in various types of switch mode power converters, speed drives, and common mode chokes for EMI filters. Since the magnetic permeability and magnetic flux swing of the material are much higher than the current traditional ferrite core, the smaller size is also one of the biggest advantages of nanocrystalline core.

Compared with permalloy and ferrite, Fe based nanocrystalline materials are increasingly cost-effective. When designing inductors, nanocrystalline core has the following obvious advantages:

· Can reduce the volume to 1/3 of the original

· Lighter weight

· Less copper loss, thanks to reduced number of turns

· The operating temperature range can be from –25 to +120°C under standard conditions, and the upper limit can be increased to 180°C under special circumstances

· Safer, more stable and firmer

Applications

· EMC / EMI filter

· Switch for power supply

· Inverter core of electric welding machine

· Refined electronic medical equipment

· Battery charger for automobiles

· PV Inverter

· AC/DC or DC/DC converter

· New energy vehicles

· Railway and metro transit system

· Smart Meter

· Leakage protector

SAT Amorphous products available

The nanocrystalline core of SAT Amorphous is usually toroidal or c shape. The material itself is brittle and needs to be protected by epoxy resin or plastic coating. The protected magnetic core is very sturdy, the main performance is relatively stable, and is less affected by temperature. Many engineers believe that the ribbon material will impose certain restrictions on the shape of the core. This restriction can be broken by using a mold or changing the number of winding layers. The size of nanocrystalline core currently manufactured by SAT Amorphous covers all common sizes in the market and can be customized. SAT Amorphous makes components smaller, lighter and quieter.
